Seven Things
These six things the LORD hates: yes, seven are an
abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that
devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in
running to evil, A false witness that speaks lies, and
he that sows discord among brethren. (Prov. 6:16-19)
This country is facing a number of serious issues. The rottenness and corruption of some of our career politicians is being exposed more and more every day –
and yet their followers don't seem to care. The perversions and sex scandals, including adultery, pornography and child trafficking, are flourishing like never before.
Violence, looting, and rioting continue unabated while our cities burn and police departments are being told to stand down and do nothing. In fact, the police have become targets,
and the viloent attacks on our law enforcemnt officers is at an all time high.
Now, make no mistake about it: these things have always existed. As the writer of Ecclessiastes says, there is nothing new under the sun. (Eccl. 1:9) What has changed is the
tremendous increase in the practice of these things, and the blatant disregard of the laws of God and man. What has changed is the total lack of personal responsibility and respect
for God and for others.
These things have all gotten progressively worse over the past 60 years or so. What used to be seen only in a tiny fraction of the population is now seen in ever
greater numbers. And people doing these thing no longer care who knows it. Years ago, people still had some sense of shame when they did something wrong;
nowadays they justify it and even celebrate it! As Jeremiah wrote:
Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct?
No, they have no shame at all; they do not even
know how to blush..... (Jeremiah 6:15)
What are some of the things that have brought us to this point in America? Let's look at just seven things:
1. There is no longer any respect for any authority – up to and including God's authority. ( A proud look)
Pride says “I can do whatever I want, I don't have to listen to you!” This is the reason Lucifer was cast down from heaven: he refused to yield to God's authority;
he acted on his own desire to be greater than God. (Isaiah 14:12-14) Pride is putting self ahead of all others, not acknowledging or respecting any authority, including God, and allowing one's own desires to run rampant.
In our time, lack of respect begins in the home, at an early age. It begins with lack of respect for parents, then extends to teachers, employers, laws, police,
laws of our country, and laws of God. It leads to the kind of rebellion we see every day: children who will not listen to their parents become
people refusing to listen to instructions given by law enforcement officers, which often ends up with them getting shot by the police.
This lawlessness all begins with prideful disrespect for authority, and has very serious consequences. Scripture says:
The wicked, through the pride of his
countenance, will not seek after God:
God is not in all his thoughts. (Ps. 10:4)
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty
spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18)
2. Prayer was removed from public schools. ( A lying tongue)
In 1962. at the unrelenting persistence of one woman, Madelyn Murray O'Hare, prayer was taken out of our schools. Prior to that time, we began every school day with the
Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of prayer. So for at least five days a week, children were exposed to the twin ideas of patriotism and prayer.
These two things acknowledged the fact that this nation was founded by Godly men, based on Godly principles.
The true fact is, in the early days of our country, school children were taught to read using the Holy Bible as a primer. And another true fact is, every one of our most
prestigious
institutions of higher education were started as Christian colleges, training young men in Scripture as well as academics.
Then to make sure children were not exposed to God in any manner, in 1963 the Supreme Court decided that any reading from the Bible or any devotional was unconstitutional, citing “separation of church and state”.
This whole idea of separation of church and state has been completely twisted to fit an agenda, rather than it's original purpose. The original purpose of that phrase by Thomas Jefferson was to defend the First Amendment, which stated: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The need for such an amendment was because England, the country we had just declared our independence from, had a state- mandated religion. One either belonged to the Church of England or was considered a heretic.
Our Founding Fathers did not want that for America, and rightly so. They discerned that religion is a matter between an individual and God, and that every person should be
free to practice their religion freely, without interference from the government. In the true intent of our Founders, this means every child has the right to read the Bible in
school, but it can not be forced on them. It does NOT mean that Bible reading is prohibited. The Bible says this:
Your word is a lamp unto my feet, and a
light unto my path. (Psalms 119:105)
Study to show yourself approved unto God,
a workman that needs not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun
profane and vain utterances: for they will
increase unto more ungodliness. (2 Tim. 2:15-16)
3. Legalized abortion. (Hands that shed innocent blood)
When we look at some of the things going on today and wonder why there is no respect for human life, we can easily see abortion as a large factor. When we fail to protect
and defend the tiniest and most innocent lives among us, we are giving a clear message that life is expendable. When we advocate for a woman's "right to choose",
it can't help but teach our children that it is our "choice" to take a life.
Since 1973 there have been over 65 million babies sacrificed in abortion clinics across the country – more than 10 Holocausts over the past 47 years. Today, 1 out of 4 babies lose their lives to this atrocity.
The blood of innocent babies slaughtered in abortion clinics has polluted our land.
So you shall not pollute the land where you live:
for blood defiles the land: and the land cannot
be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein,
except by the blood of the one who sheds it.
(Numbers 35:33)
4. Decriminalizing acts of homosexuality. ( A heart that devises wicked imaginations)
Homosexuality was originally labeled in the Diagnostic And Statistics manual of Mental Disorders (DSM, the bible of the mental health profession), as a perversion and deviation. It was later downgraded to a paraphylia, then a fetish, then a sexual orientation disturbance, before it was finally removed completely. Illinois became the first state to decriminalize homosexual contact between consenting adults in 1962, and from there, sodomy laws were struck down all over the country.
Today, we are experiencing the results of legalizing behaviors that God calls an abomination. The LGBTQ community is fighting diligently to remove every sexual
constraint whatsoever, including age. They have terrorized Christian businesses, tying them up in court and costing them millions of dollars,
to force them to violate their principles and cater to homosexuals. They are pushing their agenda with such fierce intimidation tactics that very few dare to stand
against them. They want us to accept their perversion as normal, acceptable, even desirable. But God's word calls homosexuality an abomination:
Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with
womankind: it is abomination. (Lev. 18:22)
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lies with
a woman, both of them have committed an
abomination: they shall surely be put to death;
their blood shall be upon them. (Lev. 20:13)
5. The increase in other perversions. (Feet that are swift in running to evil)
While this is closely tied to homosexuality, it goes even farther than consenting sex between two adults: these other perversions involve the abuse and exploitation of our
children. Advocates for homosexuality have confused the gender issue so much that our children think there are a dozen or more genders, and that they can change
from one to another whenever and however they want. Parents are fighting for the “right” to allow children as young as 6 years old to be given sex-altering hormones,
and to undergo sex-changing surgeries that will permanently mutilate their tiny, undeveloped bodies.
And perversions of every type flourish. Under the guise of “gender fluidity”, boys are now allowed in girl's locker rooms in schools and grown men are now allowed in
women's restrooms in public places. Pornography and the child sex trade are prominent among our politicians, entertainers, and across every segment of our society.
Our children are being robbed of their innocence instead of being protected.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, Things that
cause people to stumble are bound to come:
but woe to him, through whom they come! It
would be better for him that a millstone were
hanged around his neck, and he was thrown
into the sea, than that he should cause one
of these little ones to stumble. (Luke 17:1-2)
6. Churches that fail to teach the Word of God. (A false witness that speaks lies)
The reason a lot of these things have flourished so much is that our churches are failing to teach what God's word says about sin.
Why do preachers refuse to name sin for what it is, and why do they skip the call to repentence?
Let me ask you this: When was the last time you heard an old-fashioned “fire and brimstone” message from the pulpit? When was the last time you saw
an old-time revival meeting? Why did we do away with the old-fashioned altars, when people could kneel in prayer, repentence, and submission as they bared
their hearts before the Lord?
We have allowed preachers to water down the word so much that it has become almost useless. Instead, the majority of them
“tickle our ears”, preaching uplifting, feel-good messages, and a false "prosperity" gospel, instead of messages that will convict us of our sin and draw us to the cross.
We do not need messages of health and wealth or living our best lives now; we need messages of repentence, faithfulness, and obedience.
Some even speak outright lies, going against the clearly stated truths in the Holy Bible to say what sinful people want to hear. Just this past week the Pope
spoke out in approval of same same marriages. Of course, several other denominations have already done the same thing. But the Bible warns against preaching what
people want to hear; the role of a preacher is to teach, rebuke, and disciple people in sound Biblical doctrine, not wordly doctrine.
Preach the word; be diligent in season, out of
season; correct, rebuke, and encourage, with
great patience and sound doctrine. For the time
will come when people will not endure sound
doctrine; instead, to suit their own desires they
will gather around them a great number of
teachers that will say what their itching ears
want to hear. And they shall turn their ears
away from the truth, and turn aside to myths.
(2 Timothy 4:2-4)
7. A political party that is turning people against each other. (Sowing discord among brethren)
While neither major party is perfect - far from it! - one of them is doing all they can to sow strife and discord, and turn
Americans against each other. They have made victims out of career criminals and
created phony "hate crimes" to stir up racial animosities, then sat back and watched as their cities were looted, burned, and destroyed. They shut down their states in response
to the admittedly inflated numbers of this corona virus, and set up tip lines for people to report their neighbors not wearing masks. They want to take away our Second Amendment rights, and have passed
"red flag" laws, which violate at least 3 other Constitutional rights as well, and encourage people to report anyone, with no proof or evidence or any danger to self or others.
Never before in the history of America have citizens been actively encouraged to report each other for having different points of view. And any expression of a
different point of view quickly turns into a loud and obnoxious personal attack, rather than a discussion of reason and logic. People no longer agree to disagree,
now it's an all or nothing thing, where we have to agree or be attacked personally - and more and more often, even physically assulted. And the party that preaches tolereance is the most intolerant
of any opposing view.
In addition, this party condones and even encourages violence, even while claiming it is our President that incites the violence. Just a few examples:
- Corey Booker wants to punch the president in the face.
- Joe Biden want to beat him up.
- Maxine Waters urgers people to harass Trump supporters in public.
- Jimmy Kimmel makes "jokes" about assassinating the president.
- Snoop Dog makes a video about assassinating the president.
- Kathy Gifford holds up a severed, bloody head of the president.
- Johnny Depp "jokes" about assassinating the president.
- Madonna advocates blowing up the White House.
- BLM advocates killing cops and "frying them like bacon".
- Rashida Tlaib publicly calls the president the foulest and most vulgar epithet.
- Democrats repeatedly refuse to condemn violence in their cities. In fact, they have threatened greater violence if the president replaces recently deceased Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
And they have openly promised more violence if the president wins re-elction.
It is obvious that it is not the president inciting violence in our nation, it is the opposing party. Never before has one party encouraged
and condoned wide-spread attacks on and against our citizens. This party is a danger to our nation, and to every single one of us. Their constant stirring up division and strife is a large part of what's wrong in America today.
There are other factors, of course, like the decline in our educational system, for instance, but these are seven things are huge factors that are leading to the
destruction of our country.
These are seven things that God specifically hates, as stated in His word. If we want to save our nation, our hope is not just in a political party or one man.
Our true hope is in the Lord: we must turn back to Him,
and the precepts found in His word that this country was founded on.
So, the real question is, where do we go from here? What can we do to turn things around and save our country? As always, the Scriptures hold the answer.
Here is a great way to start:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:
a good understanding have all they that do his
commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Psalms 111:10
With my whole heart have I sought you: O let
me not wander from your commandments.
Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might
not sin against you. (Psalms 119:10-11)
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God, and keep his commandments: for
this is the whole duty of man. For God shall
bring every work into judgment, including every
secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it
be evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)
If my people, who are called by my name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek
my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then
will I hearf rom heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14 )
