A Better Life

Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ: (Romans 5:1)

A better life is something we all want, isn't it? There's a big difference, however, between wanting a better life and actually having one. We spend so much of our time chasing after things we think will make our lives better, only to find out that no, that wasn't really it after all. Some things may make life a little more enjoyable, for sure, but still leave us wanting more.

So how, exactly, do we get a better life, then? All the wordly things we chase after aren't the answer. A better life is lived by FAITH, not things. Faith is simply putting all our trust in Jesus. Not always looking to worldly things but trusting Him. Faith is:

Forsaking All, I Trust Him.

We have to have faith in God to have a better life. Scripture tells us that a life of faith is necessary, because without it, we cannot please Him:

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that
comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6)

So what is faith? First, faith is trusting Him for our salvation, Our life becomes much better when we have the assurance that Jesus paid the price for all our sins, saving our souls. We couldn't ever do that for ourselves, but He did it for us. Jesus, only Son of God, only sinless man who ever lived, paid for our sins when He was crucified. He took all our sin upon Himself. It is a Gift from God to us, but is only available through our faith in Him. .

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8)

Faith is trusting that your sins are all forgiven, through Jesus Christ's atoning death and resurrection. Wouldn't it make your life much better to lay doen that burden of guilt, shame, and regret, knowing that Your sins have been paid for and God has forgiven you?

In whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches
of his grace; (Ephesians 1:7)

Faith is trusting that God can and will provide all our needs.

But my God shall supply all your need according to
His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Faith is trusting that God truly cares about us and our problems. We can take all our cares, all our failures and trials and worries to Him, because there's not a thing He doesn't already know, and nothing is too insignificant for Him to care about. We have to humble ourselves and realize there are some things we cannot control, some things we cannot fix or make right. But God cares, and He can do what we cannot. He already knows how He is going to work everything out!.

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of
God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your
care upon him; for he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6)

We always hear "Seeing is believing", but faith is believing what we cannot see. We need to learn to walk by faith, not by sight. Believing God's Holy Word, not just what our eyes can see.

(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Faith is like a muscle: the more we exercise it, the stronger it gets. The more we walk in faith, the more faith grows in us. And the more faith grows in us, the more we learn to walk in faith. It's a win-win! From faith to faith, God reveals His righteousness to us.

For therein is the righteousness of God
revealed from faith to faith: as it is written,
The justshall live by faith. (Romans 1:17)

And faith is trusting Him to one day, when our life on this earth is through, to bring us to heaven to live with Him eternally.

In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were
not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place
for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I
will come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:2-3)

I don't know about you, but this sounds much better to me than just chasing after things that will never truly make my life better. As our key verse above says, faith in Jesus reconciles us to God, and gives us peace. And THAT, my friend, is how we will have a better life!
