The One Who Walks Beside Me

A man that has friends
must show himself friendly:
and there is a friend that
sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24

I once was fully lost in sin,
That's where my Jesus spied me,
He very gently took me in,
And now He walks beside me.

Never has He turned His face,
He has never once denied me;
He covers me fully with His grace,
The One who walks beside me.

Wherever I may chance to go,
He's always there to guide me;
I'll never, ever, walk alone,
There's One who walks beside me.

I don't worry what the day may bring,
Because He has fortified me;
He is my sustanance, my everything,
The One who walks beside me.

Whenever trouble comes my way,
He's there to shield and hide me;
I must only rest in Him each day,
The One who walks beside me.

When faced with trials, or feeling blue,
Or when satan's snares have tried me;
I'm more than just a conqueror, through
The One who walks beside me.

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your love,
Which has always satisfied me,
Someday we'll meet in Glory above,
Where You'll ever walk beside me!
