We Were Always On His Mind

According as He hath chosen us in
Him before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and
without blame before Him in love:
Ephesians 1:4

He was thinking of you and me,
When He left heav'n's glory behind;
It was for us He came to earth,
We were always on His mind.

He knew us, even way back then,
Before this world was ever made,
He knew what it took to save us,
He knew the price that must be paid.

He knew that without shedding blood,
Sin could never be forgiven,
And only He could pay the price,
That's why He left His heaven.

He willingly became the Way,
To redeem us, and all mankind;
Before He ever came to earth,
We were always on His mind.

He came to earth a helpless babe,
On that long-ago Christmas morn,
To be a poor carpenter's son,
In a lowly stable born.

And as He grew from babe to man,
He never once gave way to sin;
He was the the perfect sacrifice
To redeem lost, sinful men.

He was the perfect sacrifice,
By His blood are we made pure,
Our wretched sins are forgiven,
Our future home is secure.

Yes, we were always on His mind,
We're the reason He came to earth
Jesus Christ, Savior and Redeemer,
Let us celebrate His birth!
