Thanksgiving Prayer
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known unto God. (Philippians 4:6)
Thanksgiving is a time to pause,
To thank you, Lord above,
For the blessings you bestow on us,
For your mercy and your love.
For providing us with all we need,
For your loving care each day;
For guiding us along life's journey,
For hearing us when we pray.
For our children and grandchildren,
And other loved ones, far and near,
For all the good times that we've shared
With those we love so dear.
For a nose to smell the flowers,
For ears to hear a newborn's cry,
For eyes to watch the children play,
Or the sun set in the sky.
For touch, to kiss a baby's face,
And to hug our loved ones tight.
For taste buds to enjoy our meals,
Your bounty in which we delight.
For giving us your only Son,
And for your redeeming power,
For knowing you'll be there for us,
To comfort in our darkest hour.
For preparing us another home,
In heaven's land so far away,
There to live with you forever,
When you bring us home one day.
Dear Lord, we pause to give Thee thanks,
For the blessings that You've given,
For blessing us right here on earth,
And joys awaiting us in heaven.
