The Rich Young Ruler
"For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul? Or what shall he give in exchange for his soul? Matt. 16:26
We work ovetime to buy more things,
We want bigger, and better, and more;
But like the rich young ruler found,
What are all these "things" good for?
He had so very much, you see,
He liked the finer things in life;
But all his things were not enough
To buy eternal life.
We need to stop and ask ourselves,
Where are we putting our faith into?
Are we trusting in Christ Jesus, or
In the things that we have, or do?
For we'll find, like the rich young ruler,
Riches and works aren't good enough,
We can't get there by our own power,
We can't put our faith in "stuff".
For He is the way, the truth and the life,
He is the doorway to heaven,
No one enters except through Him,
No matter what riches we've been given.
For what does it profit a man,
To gain the world, but lose his soul?
So please, put your faith in Jesus,
And give Him complete control,
Make Him the focus of your life,
Trust in Him, and Him alone;
Then when this old life has ended,
He'll say, “My child, welcome home!”
