Unconditional

But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

God loves us, unconditionally. He is holy, pure, and righteous, so He hates sin, but He loves us. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts.

What did we do to ever deserve His love? Not a thing. He loved us because He IS love - that is His very character, His nature, His choice.

What can we ever do to make Him love us more? Not a thing. Being a "good" Christian doesn't make God love us more - He loved us long before we ever became Christians.

He even loves us if we DON'T become Christians, if we reject the most precious gift of His beloved Son. God gave us free will. We have the freedom to choose to accept or reject Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for us. God loves us either way.

Now that's real love. Unconditional love - knowing that He loves us enough to give us the choice, even if our choice to to reject Him. Who else will ever, or can ever, love us like that?

And if God loved us unconditionally when we were still lost in our sins and separated from Him, if He would do that for us then, how much more will He do now that we are His beloved children?

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. (Romans 5:9)

What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
