A Psalm of David.
The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof;
the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath
founded it upon the seas, and established it upon
the floods. (Psalms 24:1-2)
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up,
ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall
come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD
strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up,
ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall
come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of
hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. (Psalms 24:7-10)
Psalms 22. 23, and 24 are considered by many Bible scholars as a trilogy. Psalm 22 depicts Jesus as a suffering Savior. He is shown to be the Good Shepherd
in Psalm 23. And in Psalms 24, we see Him as the King of Glory. Strong and mighty, Creator and owner of the world and all that's in it - including us! Scripture says
" For in him we live, and move, and have our being..." (Acts 17:28) And yet for all His Sovereignty, for all His mighty power, for all
His riches, for all His majesty and glory, He wants to come in and dwell with us!
We are so very grateful for Jesus as the suffering Savior who died to save us from our sins. We know that without Him there is no way we could be saved; He is the Way,
the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6) And we love the image of Him as the Good Shepherd, taking care of us. We want His protection and for Him to lead us to
green pastures. It comforts us to know He is watching out for His sheep.
Do we truly worship Him as our King, though? When we call upon Jesus to be our Lord and Savior, we must surrender our lives to Him. We are no longer our own, we have been bought with a price. "
For ye are bought with a price...(1 Cor. 6:20) We are no longer the ruler of our own lives, Jesus is.
We rebellious and stubborn human beings want to be our own bosses, control our own lives, do things our own way. It's our human nature. But if Jesus is our King, He alone
has the right to rule our lives. We are to follow His way, not our own, and seek His will, not ours. Only then can we truly worship Him as the King of Glory that He is.
When Jesus is truly sovereign in our lives, and we have truly surrendered our own will to His, He is strong and mighty to fight our battles for us. He gives us
protection, strength, and courage in all life's battles, because we are His. Have you surrendered your life to Jesus? He wants to come into your heart and into your life.
"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)
If you have never asked Jesus to be you Lord and Savior, there is no better time than today. Right here, right now. Surrender your life to Him, and worship the King of Glory!
