Take My Past, Oh Lord

Remember ye not the former
things, neither consider the
things of old.    Isaiah 43:18

Lord Jesus, You’re my all in all,
The One who makes me whole,
So heal my wicked past, Oh, Lord,
Bring it under Your control.

Take my past mistakes and sins,
And redeem them, Lord, I pray!
I know that they’re forgiven,
But take the hurt and shame away.

For hurt and shame are not from God,
They are the devil’s toys—
The enemy uses them against me,
To steal my peace and joy.

Lord Jesus, help me understand,
That in You, I am set free!
The devil has no power here---
You are my authority!

Take every hurt, and heal it, Lord,
So that I'm not easy prey;
Take each mistake, and use it, Lord,
To help another along the way.

Take every shame, and cover it,
With Your redeeming grace,
That I may know how much I’m loved,
That I may know my place.

For You are Alpha and Omega, Lord,:
You are both first and last;
I've trusted to You the future,
And now I trust to You the past.
