Where Is God?

If My People, who are called by
My name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek My face, and
turn from their wicked ways, then
will I hear from heaven, and will
forgive their sin, and will heal
their land.... II Chron. 7:14

People ignore Him every day,
And never seem to find it odd;
Then when tragedy comes their way,
They wonder, "Where is God?".

"A loving Father," they complain,
"Wouldn't let this happen this way!"
They use tragedy to explain
Why there's no need to pray.

"This proves there is no God." they claim,
And many in agreement nod;
They won't accept their share of blame---
They're the ones who've changed, not God.

Dear friend, I'll tell you where God is:
He's right there, where He's always been!
This world, and all that's in it's His,
The same as way back then.

He's the same today as long ago---
He's not dead, nor does He sleep;
What's going on in this world below,
Is enough to make Him weep!

His children wandered far away,
They are so caught up in their sin,
That even when they claim to "pray",
They won't let God enter in.

Their ears are deaf, their eyes are blind,
They've hardened all their hearts;
They've left the words of God behind,
Till now, they're far apart.

But our God is still supernal,
Far beyond this poor human mind;
His promise still is eternal,
And all who seek will find.

Then they'll begin to understand
Why this old world is now so flawed:
Mankind is under Satan's hand,
They've turned their backs on God!

Thus tragedies will continue,
On that sad fact, we can depend;
Examine the heart that's within you,
And turn back to God, dear friend.

For oh, how sad will be the fate,
Of this old world, at it's end;
Turn back! Turn back, 'fore it's too late!
Turn back to God! Amen.
