Red Roses For Your Birthday

Dear Harold, it's been another year,
Since that day that you were born,
I wish you a special blessing,
On this, your birthday morn.

Sweetheart, you mean the world to me,
I hope you know it's true,
So I got you these red roses,
They reminded me of you.

Red roses are long-enduring,
They last a good long while,
They fill up an empty room,
And always bring a smile.

Red roses are also hardy,
They don't require very much,
Just a little tender loving care,
And a frequent gentle touch.

If they're handled too carelessly,
The thorns can tear through skin,
But there's sweetness inside them,
Like your love hidden deep within.

They say red is the color of true love,
That will last our whole life long,
And it's also the color of passion,
That's sure to keep burning strong.

So please take these pretty roses,
A reminder of my love so true,
Happy Birthday, dearest Harold,
My darling, I'll always love you.
