Love Hung On The Cross

Greater love has no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his
friends. (John 15:13)

Some people wonder what love is,
Because they've never truly known
The kind of love that gives everything,
And holds nothing back as it's own.

Pure love that does whatever it takes
And suffers every conceivable loss;
If you want to know what real love is,
Look at Jesus as He hung on the cross.

They drove nails into His feet and hands,
What torture our Savior did bear;
But it wasn't those nails that held Him,
It was love that kept Him there.

He cared not a bit for His own life,
As they scorned and rejected Him
Even as He died, His love was so great
He prayed, "Father, please forgive them."

He gave us love beyond any measure,
Beyond limits of time and space,
Beyond anything we could imagine,
We are saved by His marvelous grace.

Yes, it was because of His great love,
That Jesus counted His life well lost,
If you want to know what real love is,
Look at Jesus as He hung on the cross.
