Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6)

There are many good people in the world. There are people who do a lot of good works, people who give lots time and money to charities, people who dedicate their whole lives to helping the less fortunate. There are even those who are very devout, praying frequently and fasting, on a routine basis.

We can all agree that all of these things are good things. However, none of these things will save us in the day of judgment. None of these things will get us into Heaven. It doesn't matter how good we may be or how many good works we do, unless we have received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are lost, and will not get into heaven.

We make a terrible mistake today if we are depending on our own good works to make us pleasing and acceptable to God. Even those things that make us seem good and righteous in the eyes of man, are not enough to save us.

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
