Sometimes we go through difficult trials in our lives, and we can't help but wonder why? What possible purpose can there be for the things that break our hearts? What is God doing when it feels like He has utterly forsaken us, and has turned a deaf ear to our prayers?
I do not know what God's purpose is for such trials. I can't begin to know why He allows some people to be hurt, some to be abused, some to suffer from debilitating illness, and some to die far, far too soon.
No one has an snswer to such questions. Job's three friends tried to humanly reason out an answer to all of Job's calamities. But God is so much bigger than our poor, feeble human understanding.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 55:8)
But know this: Our God is a redeeming God. Nothing is ever wasted in His eternal plan for His children. He will redeem every tear we've ever cried, every heartache we've ever suffered. He will redeem them, and will somehow turn them into something for our good, and for His glory. We have His Word on it:
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
(Romans 8:28)
