Not Your President?

Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name
of God forever and ever: for wisdom and might
seasons: he removes kings, and sets up kings:
he gives wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge
to them that know understanding. (Dan. 2:20-21)

There were so many people after this last presidential elction angrily waving their protest signs and vowing that the elected President was "Not MY President!" Most of them are still saying this. I would like to think they are capable of reasoning and evaluating evidence, but they have proved over and over that they cannot and will not do so. They have used the most childish rhetoric, resorting to name-calling and personal attacks, instead of logical and reasonable discussion. They attack not just the man himself, but his family and children. They refuse to give the man any credit for any good thing he has done - and like him or not, he has done many good things that benefit all of us.

The opposing politicians have lied and cheated in their efforts to keep him from becoming President in the first place, and to remove him from office since then. However, if these people knew the God of the Holy Bible, they would be aware that it is God himself who raises up rulers and casts them down. Such disgraceful behavior on the part of those who refuse to accept a President elected by the people is not just childish, it is not just an attempt to usurp power, it is a form of ungodliness. Being subject to the elected leaders is one of the instructions God gives us through the apostle Paul:

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.
For there is no power but of God: the powers that
be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resists
the power, resists the ordinance of God: and they
that resist shall receive to themselves judgment.
(Romans 13:1-2)

Not your President? Think again. Maybe he's not your CHOICE, but he IS your President!
