Yes, Jesus Loves Even Me

"Jesus loves me, this I know...."
I learned that old song as a child,
But I knew it didn't apply to ME---
I was much too rebellious and wild.

I would not listen to anybody,
Did whatever I wanted to do;
Always getting myself into trouble ---
No, that song just couldn't be true!

I had a big chip on my shoulder,
Life wasn't fair, 'twas plain to see.
I wouldn't let Jesus come into my heart ---
That song wasn't for people like me.

Then one day a strange thing happened,
As I sat on an old wooden pew,
The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart,
And said, "Yes, Jesus loves even YOU!"

Then I took Jesus Christ as my Savior,
My whole attitude changed that day!
My life will never again be the same,
Since Jesus washed my sins away!

"Jesus loves me, this I know..."
Why did it take so long to see
The simple truth of that childhood song:
Yes, Jesus loves me --- even me!
