The Tongue

Even so the tongue
is a little member,
and boasteth great
things. Behold,
how great a matter
a little fire kindles!
James 3:5

The little tongue is a mighty thing---
It can bless, or it can curse;
Learn to use it for the better,
And stop using it for the worst!

The tongue is an awful weapon
When it is used for speaking ill;
It cuts much deeper than a sword,
And it has the power to kill!

Hurtful words are ne'er forgotten,
Beware what you speak with wrath;
Angry words can ruin a life,
While the devil laughs and laughs.

So speak the truth, instead of lies,
The way you know you should.
Don't tell or listen to gossip,
It never leads to any good.

Speak with love to your family,
Let no hateful words be said;
Speak blessings to your enemies,
To heap fiery coals on their head!

Just wait and see what happens
You'll get a big surprise,
When you learn to speak God's promises,
Instead of the devil's lies!
