I used to often wonder
If God really heard me pray,
It seemed like He didn't answer
When my trials didn't go away.
I never really understood,
Until God opened up my eyes,
That all the trials I've been through
Are really blessings in disguise.
He blessed me with an illness,
Because in His Word, He tells,
How everything that we go through
Can help us help somebody else.
He blessed me with a failure,
When I wanted great success,
To teach me to rely on Him alone,
Instead of my own self-righteousness.
He blessed me with a broken heart,
To prove His love is strong;
So I can share His love with someone else,
Who feels like they can't go on.
All our heartaches, trials and failures,
Only bring us to this place
To experience His unfailing love,
And His all-sufficient grace.
Every troubled time we've been through,
God redeems, and plans to use:
We can be a blessing to others,
Because we've walked in their shoes.
Yes, God always hears my prayers,
So when I don't get what I asked for.
I've learned to thank Him, anyway,
For the blessing He has in store.
