When God Allows Your Tears

You number my wanderings:
you put my tears into your bottle:
are they not in your book?
Psalms 56:8

There's been many times,
Throughout all these years,
That my Lord has allowed
My heartbroken tears.

Tears have flowed from my eyes,
Till my eyesight grew dim;
But often it takes our tears,
To make us turn to Him.

When our life's going just fine,
When we think we’re doing okay,
We become too complacent,
We forget God, and drift away.

When will we ever learn?
We need Him all the time:
When our life is a mess,
Or when life is sublime.

If you think God isn't listening,
Or answering your prayers,
Learn to trust in His promises,
And know that He cares.

For when God allows our tears,
It's not just some foolish whim:
Learn to rest on His promises,
Draw near, and trust Him.
