The Path God Chose For Me
There were no signs or warnings,
Not even a hint of what would be,
I just woke up that last morning,
To find you gone, so suddenly.
We thought we'd have a few more years,
To do the things we hoped to do,
But that's never going to happen now,
And I have to go on without you.
I thought I'd be the first to leave,
That you'd be the one to go on alone,
But God had a different plan for us,
And instead, He took you home.
Now I'm left to walk this lonely road,
The path God chose for me.
So I'll try my best to live my life,
With strength and dignity.
I'll remember fifty-two wonderful years,
And give thanks to the Lord above.
For the family we raised together,
And for your never-ending love.
If I sometimes feel lost, or helpless,
Or overwhelmed along the way,
I'll bring my troubles before the Lord,
I know He will show me the way.
For I never truly walk alone,
God is always here beside me,
He gives me strength and comfort,
And will always lead and guide me.
So I'll trust Him along this widow's path,
Until my journey's end has come,
And I know you'll be there waiting,
When at last He calls me home.
