A Baby's Plea

I call heaven and earth to
record this day against you,
that I have set before you
life and death, blessing and
cursing: therefore choose life,
that both thou and thy seed
may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

My heart beats,
but I'm not alive,
Or so they say,
and I must die.

Right now, I'm
considered a burden,
And I know
that you are hurtin'....

You think they won't love you
if I come to be.
I wish that you'd
just wait and see.....

Won't you give me
just one chance
To steal your heart
with my first glance

Let me look
into your eyes,
You'll find a love
you can't disguise.

Please hold me just once
to your breast,
And see if you still
wish me eternal rest.

If you wait,
then you will see
All the things
that I can be....

Look, Mom, at
the things I can do!
It won't be long,
I'll smile and coo.

If you'll just let me,
I'll walk, and dance!
Please, Mom, give me
just one chance!

I'm begging you,
from inside the womb,
Let me grow up,
and have a home.

And, Mom, if you can't,
I'll understand;
But put me in
another mother's hands.

Look at this picture, Mom:
I have fingers and toes,
And a little face,
with a little nose.

I can move, and
suck my thumb,
I feel pain ---
I am not numb.

Please don't listen
to their lie;
I am a life,
and don't want to die!
