God Doesn't Have A "Plan B"

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

In these unsettling times we live in, with war and rumors of war all over the world, it is important for us to remember that God does not have a "Plan B". Somehow, we seem to think that if something doesn't go right, God has to change His plan. That is something we often have to do, because we are fallible, imperfect humans. But it is not something God has to do. Our Heavenly Father knows exactly what is going on at all times, everywhere, and is always in complete control of every situation.

To us, something may seem like a total disaster, but we would do well to realize that God is ALWAYS in control, and always knows what He is doing. We may not understand why something is happening, or even what is happening, but then, we don’t have to understand. That’s beyond our capabilities. It’s God’s job to know and understand. It's our job to trust Him, and to bring all our prayers and supplications before Him.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (Philippians 4:6)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

No matter how powerful they may be, every higher power in the world exists only because God has a reason for it. He has ordained every power for His own purpose, and we don’t have to know why. We only have to trust Him, and be faithful in praying for His guidance, His direction, and His intercession in our behalf.

And he changes the times and the seasons:
he removes kings, and sets up kings. (Daniel 2:21)

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resists the power, resists the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Romans 13:1

Every government in the world exists because it is a part of God's master plan. Every act committed by every government is known to God, and does not come as a surprise to Him. They each serve His purpose, whether they realize it or not. Scriptures tell us that they are ordained by God. God reigns over the heathen every bit as much as He reigns over the Godly.

God reigns over the heathen:
God sits upon the throne of his holiness. (Psalm 47:8)

When a tragedy occurs, it doesn't catch God off guard. For instance, God did not look down upon the earth on the morning of 9/11 and think to himself, "Oh, no! Someone has flown a plane into the World Trade Center! What am I going to do now?" Our Creator is almighty, omnipotent, and omniscient. He never has to re-think His position, or resort to "Plan B". No, God is in control of every situation, all over the world, all the time.

This is true of individuals, as well. God is always in control. When something bad happens in the life of a Christian, it is comforting to know that if God allowed it, He will get us through it. That's right! Somehow, our God is so awesome, He can bring good out of even the worst times and events of our lives. The Bible tells us:

"For we know that all things work together for the good of them that love
the Lord, that are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts
of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Did you catch that word, "expected'? It wasn't a surprise to God. When we are devastated by circumstances or events beyond our control, we need to bring all our doubts and fears before our Heavenly Father. He already knows them, anyway, but He wants us to bring them to Him. As parents, we want our child to come to us, so we can talk about the child's fears and doubts, and then put them to rest. Our Heavenly Father to do the same.

God knows our every thought. He knows what we are going to do before we do it. He is never surprised or caught off guard. Why do we worry so much about what's happening, instead of bring our worries to the only One who can do anything about them? When are we going to realize that no matter what is happening in our lives or in the world; no matter how bad things seem, no matter how messed up things might be, GOD IS IN CONTROL !!!

No, we do not have to worry, even when things are happening that we do not understand. God is in control. All we have to do is trust Him, and talk to Him. Take time to pray!
